Architect-US

Mission: America

Hi all,

As a way of introduction: My name is Stas, I obtained my Master Degree in Architecture from Politecnico di Milano last December, and I am now around a week before my trip to NYC on the J1 Visa. I’ve been to the States a couple of times before, however,  always as a tourist. I simply couldn’t think of a better place to learn, grow, and gain the first experience in Architecture than in New York City. I’m excited to know that soon I will travel every day Downtown Manhattan to enter the building where SPAN Architecture is located (that is right in front of the Charging Bull in Financial District – so exciting!!!).
Architect-US has always been there to answer my questions and clarify things. As the whole process might seem complicated at first sight, it is so much easier to have a person that guides you through this complex path to your dreams. At first, I even asked to be helped finding an internship for myself. Some offers came in straight to my mailbox which I found pretty convenient, as any additional help is good here! Eventually, I managed to find this position myself.

When looking for an internship in this City of Opportunities, I made a list of architectural practices that I found interesting and matching my interests in the field. SPAN Architecture was on this list too! I really see my future going towards interior design and small-scale architecture, and I simply loved their project rewarded by the prestigious magazine INTERIOR DESIGN as Best Of Year in one of the categories. Here’s the link to all winners if you are interested: https://www.interiordesign.net/award/6-best-of-year-awards-winners-2018/

If you’re concerned about the process and think it’s a lot to take on your own, do not hesitate to ask for help. It’s worth it, and will pay off when back in your home country!

Good luck to everyone and see you in New York!

Stas
