If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere

It is well known that the beginnings are hard. I am not going to lie, it is a big truth. Especially if you are in a city like New York. This city is fascinating in multiple ways but it is not an easy place. Everything is a bit harder here.

During this first month the time has flown like crazy. I guess that when everything is new it is easier to lose the concept of time. I finish every day exhausted and it is not because of the effort of the work. The real reason is that my body is super activated, it is constantly receiving new information in whatever part I am going to. The metro ( sorry, the subway here), the supermarket, the office, the street, the laundromat… Everything is new and a bit tricky in this city. I think that I am far from being a «new yorker» yet, my body is still alert to any danger like this primitive instinct that tourists experience when they travel out of their comfort zone.
On the other hand, it is fair to say that living in New York is really entertaining. You do not need to go to a specific place to find something interesting. Sometimes you can find it in the subway, others just in the street or in a park. I have run into concerts on the street in Harlem, improvised big parties at central park or really good entertaining shows in the subway.
My big task (not counting the job) during this month has been the search for an apartment. Although I am temporarily staying in an airbnb, I am focusing all my energy on getting my own apartment. Like you can perfectly imagine, this process is not easy at all. Since COVID-19, the owners are setting more requirements for renting their houses, especially if you are a foreigner.
I am currently living in Harlemhttps://es.nycgo.com/boroughs-neighborhoods/manhattan/harlem/) and I am really happy to be living in such an amusing neighborhood. Harlem is a vibrant multicultural place that deserves another blog post just to explain its rich history.
In conclusion, this month has been a real challenge of adaptation, but like they say here «if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere»
